Route One works within the guidelines of the national curriculum, fitting in with the criteria of  Learning about Religions and Learning from Religion.

We see that our role is to help young people learn about the Christian Faith and inspire them to think for themselves about the big questions of life and the existence of God.

Below are three examples of letters we have recieved after working with the bus in schools...

Dear Simon

I am writing to express my thanks to you and your team for the excellent Easter lessons which you delivered to the Year 7 students at The King Edmund School. The lessons were well planned, engaging and extremely well delivered.

The student’s time on the bus reinforced their knowledge and understanding of Easter in a unique and exciting way. The positive outcome of the day was reflected in their exam results as many exceeded their target grade.

It was clear the students enjoyed their learning and the change of scenery. Many were buzzing with enthusiasm afterwards and were keen to tell their friends about the bus and what they had learnt.
Student feedback:

“They were really friendly. I could ask them any question I wanted.”

“It made such a nice change to have a lesson on a bus.”

“The ‘Iron man’ movie made me understand the idea of sacrifice better.”

Yours sincerely

D Bisset

Co-ordinator of Religious Studies
The King Edmund School

Dear Simon and the Route One Team

I would like to thank you and the team for coming into Greensward last week. The lessons have had a great impact on the students, and the feedback I have had from them has been really positive. The lessons you delivered were high quality, engaging the pupils and most importantly, entirely relevant to the current curriculum content being covered at the moment in years 8, 9 and 10

Your team were friendly, approachable yet thoroughly professional throughout the two days you were here. I hope we can work together soon.

Thank you again

Yours Sincerely
Mary Pickett

Head of year 8 and Teaching and Learning Leader for RE and Philosophy

Dear Simon

I am writing to express my thanks to yourself and your team, for the excellent lessons that you took in our school last week. The year 7 lessons were a novelty for the pupils (being on a bus) and the lessons were very well prepared and organised. This of course helps us to deliver the Christianity syllabus as well as giving pupils a real experience of people who hold a strong Christian belief. This enables them to be able to put the belief systems they are learning into a real context and not just theory.

I personally attended both lower and upper 6th discussion sessions which were challenging and engaging for all. Pupils will again benefit from the chance to ask ‘real live Christians’ their views on particular philosophical and faith issues; which they can then use when talking about Christian perspectives in their A level essays.
I hope you and the team enjoyed the two days with us in school and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Best wishes

Mrs C Bates
Head of Religious Studies at Southend High School for Boys

Dear Simon

Many thanks once again for agreeing to the visit of the Route One Bus to Cedar Hall School this week. The presentation to the secondary department was both thought provoking and accessible to the pupils. The pupils really enjoyed it. All the staff who participated were particularly impressed with how well the bus is equipped for the task.
Please pass on my thanks to the rest of your team,
Kind Regards
Nic Maxwell
Deputy Headteacher
