During the half term week King’s Church Southend used the bus for outreach in the High Street. There was a great team of people involved including folks from the local church and also a group of 8 year out volunteers from the Frontier Project which is based in Bedford. This group included young people from as exotic places as Switzerland, France, Uganda and Milton Keynes! We had a fantastic time in the High Street meeting people and sharing the message of the gospel.
Here is what some of the team had to say about the week-

"As far as I am concerned , working with the bus in the high street was the highlight of my year . It was challenging but exciting at the same time . Sharing the gospel so many times has refreshed my faith and taught me how to tell about the good news to people who do not know Jesus .“

Lydie

“Well what a week. At first it was easier to just say, “I’m too busy, I have other things to do.” Also it would be way out of my comfort zone. I trusted God to help me and use me whatever way He wanted to. I knew also that I had to trust in Him and that He wouldn’t put me in a situation or conversation that I couldn’t handle. Wow I had some amazing conversations and was able to bless people and even had a couple of opportunities to pray for people.”

“Being involved on the Route One bus recently was such a great experience for me, I was only there for one day, however found it really inspiring, refreshing and challenging! It made me realise that actually people on the streets do want to talk and are thinking about where they fit in life and what is out there.”
Sam.

“Working on the bus was absolutely amazing! The team were awesome, and we were taken through everything so well - all the resources are fantastic, and great things to leave with people who want to know more (and many of them do!). The displays on the bus are brilliant, and are so useful for taking people through the Gospel with a number of approaches. It's all been so wonderfully thought out and many people were impacted simply by how good the bus is.”

“The thing that most impacted me by the outreach we did was how willing people are to talk. I just wasn't expecting to find people who wanted to stop for any stretch of time and talk about Jesus, but my first chat ended up being with a guy who talked for over an hour! People were just so open to talking about things, and many discovered the true message of the Gospel for the first time, and were really impacted by what Christianity is really all about. I really grew in talking to people and sharing the Gospel, something I hadn't really done before, and it has inspired me so much to continue growing in this back home.

I think some of the highlights of the trip were some of the many amazing conversations I had, some opportunities I got to pray for people , and above all when one guy we met came to church and gave his life to Jesus. The experience has just opened my eyes to the need of people to hear the message of Jesus, and how open they really are to hearing it - even if they say they're not!”
