Verse for Today

James 3:17-18
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

October News PDF Print E-mail

Well it feels like the floodgates are opening as the requests to use the bus have been coming in thick and fast. The new web site is barely 3 weeks old but in these 3 weeks we have taken a big step forward.

We have received several different types of bookings each of which require organising in a different way.downstarirs_r1
For example we have been approached by Hawkwell Baptist Church to get involved in their youth activities week in October half term. The organisation of this event is more simple than some others as the organisation including recruiting people and equipping them to use the bus all happens through the one church.

We have been asked by Southend High for Boys to bring the bus in after half term to do lessons with the whole of year 7 on death and resurrection.
This is a very exciting prospect but very different to the event in Hawkell not only because we will be going into school but also because we were contacted by the school direct and not a church. As you are probably already aware we don’t see ourselves as a parachurch organisation (that is an organisation working outside of the church independent of church oversight.)  We come under the oversight of SEELEF which is a forum of local church leaders and we make it our aim to equip the church rather than bypassing the church. We have already made contact with Southend Vineyard (who meet in the high school on Sundays) and Earls Hall Baptist church (which is just round the corner from the school.) Both of these churches are keen to be involved in helping deliver the lessons in Southend High for Boys but we are also open to other churches being involved. If you would like to know more about this then contact Simon This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

We have been asked by the churches in Leigh-on-Sea to be involved in the Leigh lights switch on which is happening on the 27th of November.

We are looking at a possibility of joining with Love Southend and parking the bus outside Southend library for a real meaning of Christmas event on the 12th of December.

These events will be great opportunities for you to see the bus or sign up to get involved in the events with us.

Don't forget to check the website regularly for new info about the upcoming events.

Now taking bookings PDF Print E-mail

Well the new website is barely a week old and we have already had requests flying in from people who want to use the resource.

The first request came within just a few hours of going live which was very surprising as I hadn’t even had time to send the email round to let everyone know we were up and running.

We can confirm the bus will be at Hawkwell Baptist Church on the 30th of October as part of the youth activities week. Other possibilities include being at the Leigh Lights Christmas event and we are developing 2 requests for us to go into schools + we have also taken a booking for 2010.

It’s been great to hear how keen people are to use the resource and we are praying for wisdom to know how much to take on. Keep checking this website to see what’s happening.

Welcome to our new web site PDF Print E-mail

This new web site comes just in time for the official launch of the project. If you don't already know, Route One is a mobile Gospel experience onboard a double decker bus. We have spent the last year refitting the bus and designing the exhibition. funday_1

The bus was given to us as a gift and there has been alot of  time, effort and expertise which has gone into getting us to this point. We now find ourselves putting the finishing touches to the bus and planning the first events. In fact we have already used the bus at the Rayleigh Funday which took place on the 18th July.

The event was put on by the churches in Rayleigh and was a great success. We provided activities for all ages and had some great conversations with people many of whom had no connection to church or prior understanding of the core message of the bible.

One 14 year old girl commented- "No one has ever really explained to me why Jesus is so important. I now understand why Christians think He is so special."
